Experts in Renewable Energy

At Barton Knight Energy we help businesses and organisations reduce costs, optimise energy use and procurement, and more with advice on their renewable energy strategies.

There are a vast array of options available in the renewable energy market now, from solar PV to heat pumps; automated demand response to optimisation; waste-to-energy to Battery Energy Storage (BESS) and more.

Financed options vary just as much, from Capex to Power Purchase Agreements (PPA). We help commercial clients, schools and councils navigate the market and discuss the best solutions to meet their cost, energy efficiency, and sustainability goals.

How does it work?

Step 1

Energy Procurement overview, to ensure best rates, bill validation (if required) and contracts are aligned with return on investments when deploying onsite generation assets.

Step 2

Review exiting carbon reduction strategies and ESOS/SECR action plans.

Step 3

FAQs for organisations

The UK government has committed nearly £5 billion in funding to help businesses in reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. This covers government grants, tax relief, and specialised green loans, with some examples as follows:

SMEs can apply for Green Business Grants to install technologies that reduce carbon emissions, such as LED lighting and solar PV panels – available until March 2026. The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) can provide up to £15,000 off the cost of installing Electric Vehicle chargers. And local authorities often provide bespoke funding for energy efficiency improvements.

Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) offer a “zero-capital” option where a third-party developer installs and maintains renewable equipment (like solar) on your site at no upfront cost, and you buy the electricity at a fixed, discounted rate.

In addition, many major banks offer loans for sustainable investments (e.g., Lloyds Clean Growth Financing, Barclays Green Loans, NatWest Green Loans) with features like lower interest rates, no arrangement fees, or cashback rewards.

We will review your requirements in detail and conduct a site survey and energy audit to determine the best technology, calculate your energy profile, and assess structural suitability.

Most commercial rooftops, warehouses, and ground-mounted areas are suitable. South-facing roofs offer the highest output, but east/west splits are effective for daytime energy usage.

We aim for minimal disruption, working around business hours if required. A standard commercial installation can take from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the system, scale, and property.

As an NICEIC Approved Contractor, we are regulated by the UK’s largest voluntary register of electrical businesses, which assesses the installation work of over 36,000 contractors.

We are a verified Constructionline Gold contractor, working to enhanced PAS 91 criteria and validated as ‘Deemed to Satisfy’ for SSIP, meeting pre-qualification standards such as the Common Assessment Standard (CAS). We are a member of the Electrical Contractors Association, and Safe Contractor Approval shows our business is safe, ethical, and financially stable.

We also hold several specific renewable energy accreditations, including MCS certification for small-scale installations (e.g. solar panels, battery storage, heat pumps), membership of the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC), and are a Trusted Partner of Octopus Energy.
