Ten 7kW EV chargers upgrade Fairfield Care site to ‘B’ EPC

Experts in Renewable Energy

Overview

As part of a Green Lease Agreement healthcare product and service supplier Fairfield Care had to upgrade its new premises to achieve a ‘B’ EPC rating, future-proofing the building against 2031 regulations.

Barton Knight fitted a number of EV chargers as part of the energy efficiency upgrades, and to help the company’s journey to Net Zero. Fairfield Care’s fleet of staff vehicles are now EV or hybrids, and many staff have moved to EVs as they can charge their cars for free.

Key Works

Barton Knight installed ten 7kW EV charging points for business use at Fairfield Care’s new 43,000 sq ft premises in Bedford.

Ten 7kW EV charging points were installed by Barton Knight Energy to help bring Fairfield Care’s new Bedford site up to a ‘B’ EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) rating, and to assist the company’s journey to Net Zero.

With more than 3,700 product lines, Fairfield Care works with over 700 care homes across the UK, providing them with medical equipment, furniture and furnishings, and consumables. Fairfield Care also offers expert support services including servicing, product training and cost audits, focusing on quality and adding value.

Barton Knight Energy is the renewable energy division of the Barton Knight Group, one of the South East’s leading electrical contractors. Fairfield Care had engaged Barton Knight to install five EV chargers at its previous site in 2022, so it made sense to contact the electrical firm again when considering EPC ratings for the new property

Fairfield Care’s new 43,000 sq ft premises include a larger warehouse – three times the size of the previous one – and offices with room to grow. As part of a Green Lease Agreement the Fairfield Care had to upgrade the property to achieve a ‘B’ EPC rating, future-proofing the building against 2031 regulations.

The new EV chargers were part of the energy efficiency improvements and installed by Barton Knight, liaising with fit-out contractor Zentura Workspace. The high-end fit-out included a warehouse and occupied office refurbishment (with a strip-out back to shell) while Fairfield Care continued day-to-day operations.
