Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency strategies

We help organisations turn energy data, compliance requirements and sustainability targets into funded, deliverable projects.

Net Zero is not only a compliance requirement, it is an engine for growth. The UK has committed to net zero by 2050 under the UK Climate Change Act 2008 and regulation is tightening quickly.

Businesses face increasing pressure from ESOS, SECR , MEES, investor expectations and industry net zero commitments.

Organisations with emission reduction strategies reduce costs, secure funding, increase resilience and become preferred suppliers.

Barton Knight has teamed up with sustainability experts Eqonic Sustainability to support clients from commercial sectors, Local Authorities, Multi-Academy Trusts and housing associations. We deliver end-to-end energy and sustainability strategies by offering:

  • Renewable energy strategy adviceSolar PV, heat pumps and battery storage
  • Energy efficiency advice– Insulation, circular economy and resource efficiency
  • Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions reporting– Scopes 1-3, aligned with GHG Protocol
  • Sustainability and ESG reporting– Including Climate Action Plans for schools.
  • Sustainable funding opportunitiesPurchase Power Agreements (PPAs), green bonds, carbon credits

Our approach ensures your organisation not only understands its carbon footprint, but has a clear, commercially viable plan to reduce it.

G98/G99/G100 infrastructure application services

We help homeowners and commercial organisations apply to and notify local energy distribution networks (District Network Operators or DNOs) for the connection of solar panels or other renewable energy sources to the National Grid.

For small-scale microgeneration systems, e.g. most domestic solar PV systems up to 16amps or 3.68kW per phase, a ‘connect and notify’ process is required, as per the Engineering Recommendation standard (EREC) G98. The DNO must be notified within 28 days of installation.

For larger generation schemes i.e. with an output greater than 3.68kW, a more complex G99 application for DNO approval is required, with site plans etc. Depending on the specification, approval can take between 10-45 working days.

DNO notification and approval ensures that local networks can safely accommodate the additional power. Our experienced team can assist with both G98 notifications and G99 applications to ensure your project progresses as planned- contact hello@bartonknightenergy.co.uk to find out more.
